VicParks Conference a Huge Success

“The best ever” was how many described the recent annual VicParks conference held at the Novotel resort in Creswick. The conference had it all. A mix of informative and entertaining speakers, a great trade display and importantly a lot of fun seemed to be had by all.
The members of the “Team from Tower” had a ball and enjoyed catching up with so many of their clients who are obviously enjoying success and the camaraderie that is so special about the caravan park industry. Tower was delighted to be the conferences major sponsor and looks forward to doing it again next year. Congratulations to all at VicParks but in particular Pete and Yvonne together with Kel and the Committee. Well done. If you weren’t there this year, please make sure you set the conference as a priority for 2010. If 2009 is anything to go on, it will be an event not to be missed.

Changes at Tower as Allan Walls “hands over the reins”

It may be old news for many but for those who are not aware, Allan Walls has sold Tower Business and Real Estate to Robinson’s Real Estate, located in Allan’s old home town of Benalla. Robinson’s will continue running the hospitality brokerage under the Tower name, so from that point of view it will be business as usual. Sam Symes will be heading up the operation out of the Benalla office and Steve Cooper and Allan will both be continuing on as part of the team. Allan had the privilege of opening the VicParks conference and in so doing spoke of the long association he and Tower had enjoyed with VicParks. Sam of course will be endeavouring to continue to develop that relationship even further supported by the rest of the Tower team.

Michael Fox - Welcome to the Team

Tower has welcomed Michael Fox back as a sales consultant who will be focusing his efforts on and around the Gippsland areas. Michael has a wealth of industry knowledge and experience as a broker in the hospitality area and we know all the “parkies” will welcome him as a member of our team if he drops in for a visit.

What’s Happening in the Market Place

Every one is interested in the market for caravan parks as for most owners it’s their biggest asset. Fortunately cara-van parks don’t display anywhere near the volatility of the share market and neither they should. Caravan parks have shown wonderful resilience to the “crisis in confidence” and as we move around the state talking to any number of operators the general perception is that caravan parks have continued to enjoy solid or improved trading. At the end of the day, people still need somewhere to live and also value the annual holiday or break away from home. For many this may have meant a holiday in their own country or state while in other circumstances it was a trip to a destination further afield. What has happened over the last couple of years however is that the purchase prices of both freeholds and leaseholds have tended to return to more realistic levels after a period of huge demand and high prices. Potential sellers may have therefore been tempted to hang on a bit longer and buyers a bit more nervous. At the present time with confidence becoming restored and incredibly low interest rates we envisage a resurgence of demand in the near future which bodes well for those considering a sale.

The Tower Group

Tower still continues with it’s interstate partnerships which links Tower in Victoria with Park (Australia) Business Consultants, contact being Dale Wood in South Australia and Mackay Business Brokers, contact being Jason Smith in Queensland. These interstate links mean, that within the Tower Group, a property is able to be marketed quite extensively Australia wide and as we all know, “buyers can come from anywhere”. Into the future Tower will be looking to expand even further to enhance the opportunities it can provide for its clients.

Good Trading

The AFL Grand Final marks the commencement of the busy season for most parks and hopefully after the Bellarine “parkies” have recovered from the euphoria of the “Cats” magnificent victory they will also be euphoric about the prospects for their forthcoming summer season.
GOOD LUCK TO THE SAINTS FOR 2010!!!
